Recent Academy of Makeup Arts graduate Faith McLane is competing at the IMATS Battle of the Brushes in Toronto on Saturday September 26th. McLane graduated from the Special Effects program at AMUA in 2015 where she was trained by Emmy Award-winning artist Ben Rittenhouse.

The theme of this particular competition is “old age” makeup. Faith will compete with 7 other finalists that were chosen from makeup schools world-wide. They are allotted 3 hours time to complete their work before it is judged by a panel of professional makeup artists.

“I never really wanted anything as bad as I wanted to compete at IMATS,” says McLane, “I told Ben at the very beginning of the class I was going to do what it takes to go. He has been super supportive and both him and the special-effects class has really helped me in preparation for competing. From what I hear about other schools I feel that I am better prepared for the competition. I’ve made some of my own supplies such as bald caps and dentures that look amazing and really help bring the character to life. I am so grateful for AMUA! Ben has provided me with the information and tools I need to not only compete at IMATS (which is an amazing honor) but also to be a special-effects make up artist. I also want to thank Ashley our director for creating the school and for incorporating information and materials on how to expand and network a business. This is a great honor and I am very thankful.”

Faith McLane is a Veteran of the United States Military and attended the Academy of Makeup Arts with the Post 9/11 GI Bill.
