We love hearing what alumni have been up to since they graduated from AMUA because they end up doing really amazing things!
Today we’re sharing Meko Davis’ story, who shares: “Since graduating from AMUA, I have been fortunate to work on a lot of amazing productions. I have done makeup/hair for shows like “The Little Couple” on TLC, Oprah’s “Where Are They Now?” On OWN, “NFL on FOX” and more.
Most recently, I’ve been key makeup artist on films such as “Pride and Prejudice” on Lifetime, “Three’s Complicated” on TV One, and “Tales” on BET. I’ve also worked on ads for Under Armour, Revlon Creme of Nature, Revlon Lotta Body, Delta Airlines and Kodak Moments, just to name a few!”
She also has work published in Billboard Magazine, People Magazine, Southern Living Magazine, and most recently The New Yorker Magazine.
What Meko loves most about her job is working behind the scenes in the industry, cultivating her brand, and very soon educating others as well.
Meko says she really loves working on sets and behind the scenes, and she shares some advice: “You definitely have to be flexible and easy to work with, because sometimes you are on set for over 16 hours! You also have to able to adjust to the “hurry up and wait” atmosphere. There’s always a huge rush, then downtime. So just being aware, and making sure they are never waiting on the makeup department is the key. There is no better feeling than to watch productions develop from the script, to producing on set, and then to see the finished product on screen… with your name in the credits!”
