Academy of Makeup Arts Alumni, Elaina Dilts hit the ground running after graduating just a few months ago. She updated us on the work she accomplished so far, and we’re so proud!
To start, Elaina told us “I worked on Laura Citron’s fall clothing collection, Locke and Key Jewelry’s spring and fall shoots, as well as a photoshoot for an exhibition at Oz Arts Nashville in November. I’ve helped with headshots and shoots for Tribe Talent Management, and recently did an editorial project with the Block Agency that was published in 7Hues Magazine.” Check out some of these awesome images on her Instagram!
After graduating from AMUA, Elaina found part-time work at the new branch of Jenny Taylor Boudoir photography in Nashville. Here she’s being trained as a photographer as well as providing hair and makeup services. “I also make headpieces in my spare time and have had the opportunity to make them the focal point of a couple of shoots so far.” She says, “it’s so fulfilling to see something you’ve made on camera, and it’s led to some of my favorite portfolio pieces.”
Elaina also worked on several short film projects. Projects like the 54 Hour Film Festival, student films for the Nashville Film Institute, and a short film named Potter’s Ground that won 1st place at the Rack Focus Film Festival in Dallas. The winner of this festival receives funding for a feature film with distribution! So she’ll be working on a full-length version of Potter’s Ground in the fall.
“I absolutely love the freedom and mobility that come with this job. My advice to upcoming makeup artists would be to say yes to everything; it all leads to more connections and more jobs. Stay creative, come prepared, and work hard!”
Congratulations Elaina! See her website here.
