Tell us about what you’ve been working on since your time at AMUA.
I am predominately a bridal makeup artist, so since AMUA, I have established a business where I am now doing 30+ weddings a year. I also work on photo shoots, and have done quite a few corporate headshot jobs, but my true passion and workload is in bridal. I continue to work on getting my name out there, branding my business and booking events.
What’s your dream?
That is a hard question to answer, because often I feel like I am already living my dream. I am doing what I love to do on my own schedule, and it never, ever feels like a job. But, as far as goals, I would love to have my own team working under me someday….a group of dependable, talented artists, where clients can come and get all their needs met by my team alone.
What advice would you give to an aspiring makeup artist?
Never, EVER give up and try not to get discouraged. This is not an overnight success business. And it most definitely isn’t one where things are handed to you. It is work….every single day. And not just work on a client…work on social media, work on networking, work on gathering the clients to begin with. The moment you stop working, the moment you stop getting booked. And, even though it’s hard to comprehend, you have to be ok with rejection. There is a person for every chair and a chair for every person, and it’s ok if you chair is not for “that” person. Because another one will fit perfectly in it, and everything will work out.
