We’ve compiled AMUA’s October highlights for you! We’re sharing behind the scenes photos of our classroom, what our alumni and faculty have been up to, and upcoming events that we think you will find interesting.

Since beginning classes on October 7th, our Makeup for Beauty & Fashion Program students have learned about sanitization and hygiene, basic beauty makeup, hairstyling for the makeup artist, and they’ve begun working on makeup through the decades. Some of the looks they have covered so far are:

  • Geisha Makeup
  • Victorian & Edwardian Era
  • 1910-20’s Flapper
  • 1920-30’s Hollywood Starlette

AMUA’s Makeup Artist: Special Effects Program students worked on trauma makeup, nose sculpting, gelatin nose prosthetics and mold prepping for casting this month. In addition, several of the students also worked on a music video for a well-known rock band (we can’t talk about it yet!) and they’re also working on an indy feature film outside of class. Whew!

The Art of Wig & Hair Design students learned about Gibson and Greco & Roman hairstyles.

In addition to their course workload, they also support the Special Effects students by creating the hair works to top off their character projects. These students also worked behind the scenes at Madam Butterfly at the Nashville Opera, and are currently preparing hair and wig designs for 3 separate productions!
