“Invisible work” will get you booked consistently in film, television and commercials. In this 5-day workshop with award-winning makeup artist, Siân Richards, you will learn the essentials of color theory, lighting, color temperature and how to apply invisible makeup to both male and female talent, dark skin and light.

About the Artist: Siân was born in England second generation makeup artist to her Welsh father Hu Richards, and her maverick and creative mother Carmelina Ellul. She was on her first film set aged 2 and knew she wanted to be a makeup artist by the time she was 10. At 12 years old, Siân contacted the BBC to see what was needed to get into their famed makeup school… They told her to study history, art and English and contact them in 10 years time. 10 years passed, the BBC had closed it’s school,  and so Siân went to art school instead and then went off to do a course in makeup. She found her first employment in a cold garage in Manchester, thankfully not pumping gas, but making corpses for Granada Tv’s noted drama Prime Suspect (starring Helen Mirren).

That was 20 something years ago and since then, her career has spanned every genre of media makeup – from beauty and advertising to elaborate prosthetics; from high editorial runways to gritty cold sets. There is little she has not had to deal with over the years and she celebrates the diversity and range that these varied experiences have given her. She has always maintained that a makeup artist should be polished in as many skills as possible as it’s vital to be able to create magic from any type of makeup kit. 1998 saw her debut Department Head position and she has continued with this ever since, not only working on feature films, but commercials, stills, teaching, mentoring and public speaking world wide.

In 2008 Sian began working on an idea she had to create a brand of hand made makeup brushes based upon the quality she had grown up knowing via her father’s makeup kit. Six years later, London Brush Company , LBC has been adopted by many makeup professionals and passionasistas across the globe and is now growing and diversifying.

Siân lives in Los Angeles and has bases in London, New York and Malta.
